This course aims to enable students to develop theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the room division department and its operation. To better understand the role of this department within the context of hospitality. The Rooms Division Operations course also enables students to link theory and practical application during the school semester and during the industry placement period.

Learning Objectives:

Demonstrate the performance of various rooms division operational practices. Describe the function, responsibilities and structural organization of the rooms division departments within various sized properties. Develop an efficient and effective working approach within Rooms Division Departments. Use a property management system to perform common tasks required within the rooms division.

Teaching Methods:

In this module students’ learning will be through a combination of staff contact hours with the lecturer in the classroom / practical area, independent learning hours and self-managed study. Scheduled contact will involve a range of learning and teaching approaches including, individual and group exercises, individual and group practical activities, in-class group tutorials, visits and excursions, slides, student presentations, lectures, videos.
